The Prym Maxi mill is a semi-automatic loom, with a circular shape that allows you to create knitting works.
It is composed of a crank, a mode selector, the thread guide, the thread tensioner, the handle, the plastic needle and the feet.
The mode selector allows you to choose whether to knit the knit in a straight or tubular manner .
In this way you can make scarves, blankets, hats... and other accessories.
You can work with any type of yarn as long as it is suitable for hand knitting.
Depending on the type of yarn you use, you may need to change the thread tension.
Thin, smooth yarns are passed through the slots in the thread tensioner,
while thicker and more irregular yarns can be worked more easily if they are not passed through all the slots.
The advice is to carry out a test to establish the correct thread tension to be able to do a good job.
Tubular processing
Place the Prym Maxi knitting mill on a table with a smooth surface. Move the mode selector to the lower position, thus selecting the tubular knitting mode. Rotate the crank clockwise bringing the colored hook directly to the right of the slot of the thread guide. Pass approximately 40 cm of the end of the thread through the center of the reel. Arrange the yarn from right to left by passing the thread first under the open colored hook, then behind the next hook. Slowly turn the crank clockwise until the third hook opens. Pull the yarn taut at both ends and place the yarn under the third and behind the fourth hook. Pull the yarn slightly again and turn the crank clockwise again until the fifth hook opens. Continue in this way until you reach the colored hook again. Pass the thread under the colored hook and under the next 5 hooks. Be careful not to skip any hooks again. Insert the thread through the slot in the groove of the thread guide. Insert the thread into the guide slot of the thread tensioner. It is important to remember that it is necessary to adapt the tension to the quality of the thread. Wind approximately 3m of yarn on the ball, letting the thread fall slowly downwards. Hold the handle of the reel firmly to make the Maxi stitch with your left hand and rotate the crank slowly clockwise.
Please note:
During knitting, check that a sufficient quantity of loose thread is always available;
the links do not come off the hooks; the knitted piece is pulled down.
